GETTING THE JOB DONE BUILDING SCHOOLS, REPAIRING ROADS, INVESTING IN BRIDGES
Budget 2019 keeps our promises by fixing the finances, repairing services and rebuilding our economy.
We're investing in results for Manitobans and continuing on the road to recovery by supporting infrastructure investments including:
- spending more than $1 billion on strategic infrastructure such as roads and bridges, water and wastewater projects, flood protection, hospitals, schools, universities and colleges;
- providing $350 million toward highways projects such as the Daly Bridge in Brandon, the replacement of the existing overpass near Portage la Prairie and improvements to PTH 21 near Shoal Lake;
- allocating $45 million in additional infrastructure funding for 2019-20 for highways and roads to commemorate Manitoba's 150th year;
- infrastructure upgrades at Headingley Correctional Centre, boiler replacement at the Central Power House and fire alarm system replacement at the Manitoba Centennial Centre;
- funding for major improvements to airports at St. Theresa Point, Norway House and Shamattawa; and
- increasing flexible funding for municipalities that can be used for roads, bridges or other municipal infrastructure projects.
