Budget 2019 - Getting The Job Done

GETTING THE JOB DONE IN HEALTH CARE

Budget 2019 keeps our promises by fixing the finances, repairing services and rebuilding our economy.

We're investing in results for Manitobans and continuing on the road to recovery by investing in a strong health-care system to ensure better health care sooner including:

  • investing historic levels of funding in health care, lowering ambulance fees to a maximum of $250, opening five new or enhanced health facilities with operating funding of $6.4 million, hiring 35 additional primary care paramedics with $3.8 million in devoted funding and increasing renal replacement therapy funding by $2.4 million;
  • reserving $20 million to allow the province to sign the upcoming addictions and mental health bilateral agreement with the federal government;
  • implementing new scheduling software that responds to patient volumes and care needs while reducing overtime;
  • investing an additional $240,000 to support post-vision loss rehabilitation and peer support services with CNIB;
  • investing in needed repairs at health-care facilities across the province; and
  • purchasing 65 replacement ambulances as part of efforts to modernize the fleet while supporting paramedics in responding rapidly and effectively to medical emergencies.
