Stratigraphic Correlations
Manitoba has two Phanerozoic sedimentary basins: the Williston Basin in the southwest and the Hudson Bay Basin in the northeast. Download the stratigraphic correlation chart here to see the correlations within and between these two basins.
The TGI 2: Williston Basin Project has a stratigraphic chart with very detailed correlations between southeastern Saskatchewan and southwest Manitoba. This chart is available for download here.
Stratigraphic Map Series
The Manitoba Geological Survey’s Stratigraphic Map Series depicts structural, isopach, subcrop and outcrop information at various scales.
Digital maps published under the series include:
- Subsurface Phanerozoic geology of southern Manitoba (SM2012-1) is a set of 134 maps (cross-sections) representing the Manitoba Geological Survey's most current interpretation of Phanerozoic rocks and sediment in southern Manitoba at 1:600 000, VE 150x scales.
- Phanerozoic geology of southern Manitoba (SM2010-1) is a two map set at a scale of 1:600 000, sheet A: Paleozoic and sheet B: Phanerozoic
- Williston Basin TGI II Project released 98 maps, 2008
- Swan River Formation and top of the Jurassic stratigraphic maps released as six individual maps in 2000
- Manitoba Stratigraphic Database and the Manitoba Stratigraphic Map Series - Open File Report OF98-7 released thirty maps on CD-ROM in 1998
This set of 134 maps is grouped into seven zip files based on transect numbers. Links to each group of transects can be found be clicking on the transect numbers found on this map, or they can be downloaded from the following links:
