Manitoba supports efforts to conserve, evaluate, restore, and enhance both fish communities and aquatic ecosystems to achieve healthy, productive fish stocks. Manitoba coordinates, evaluates, and develops science-based programs that support the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems and assesses impacts to fish habitat from proposed developments. Manitoba also assesses fish health and monitors for fish diseases, manages fish transfers and movement; evaluates in-stream flow needs; and participates on numerous intergovernmental committees such as the Canadian Council of Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministers (CCFAM).
