L'équipe ne cesse de collaborer aux efforts de promotion de la dualité linguistique et du respect de la Loi sur les langues officielles. Elle est enthousiaste et travaille sans relâche et avec beaucoup de leadership pour que cet élément important de l'identité canadienne soit reconnu et respecté. Que ce soit par sa présence auprès des membres de la communauté minoritaire de langue officielle ou par ses efforts de sensibilisation dans les institutions fédérales, ce petit bureau de cinq personnes dont une à temps partiel s'occupe d'une région considérable englobant deux provinces, le Manitoba et la Saskatchewan.
The members of our team work together tirelessly to promote linguistic duality and compliance with the Official Languages Act. In its constant efforts focussing on gaining recognition and respect for this important aspect of our Canadian identity, the group shows a great deal of enthusiasm and leadership. Whether through its presence in the Official Languages Minority Community or through its awareness-raising work within federal institutions, this small five-person office (one person being part-time) is responsible for a considerably large region encompassing both Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
The Residential Tenancies Branch is a ‘one stop shop' where Manitobans go for assistance in resolving their tenant/landlord disputes. Clients are often highly emotional and the issues are urgent. The environment is fast-paced and high volume. Providing compassionate, meaningful assistance to tenants who are at risk of losing their home or landlords who are concerned with issues that might jeopardize their investment in rental housing is very stressful and can be challenging. Staff regularly go beyond expectations of the position: connecting clients with supports from other agencies that would be of assistance; coordinating efforts when multiple individuals/agencies are involved; following-up to ensure satisfactory outcomes. Clients comment on how grateful they are for the unexpected level of service. Staff even get hugs from time to time. Such dedicated staff make a real difference in the community they serve and they are proud to do so as public servants.
This team is dedicated to safeguarding the everyday lives of Manitobans. In preventative health care there isn't a lot of glory. People typically don't say "thanks for preventing that illness I didn't get" I would be wonderful to say thank you to this hardworking, selfless team of professionals.
Manitoba Developmental Centre Recreation Services sets a high standard of providing leisure activities for adults living with mental/physical disabilities at the Centre and in the Central Region. The diverse programming offered has been recognized in the Recreation Field as creative and trend setting. The programs include Aquatic, Bowling, Pottery, Multi-sensory, Craft, Music, Community Outings, Physical Activity, Social, 1-1, Canteen Services, 2 Summer Camps and major Special Events involving cultural or theme settings for 100-150 participants as examples. MDC Recreation Services provides this to over 200 participants living at the Centre plus a service called TRON (Therapeutic Recreation Outreach Network) that was created by the Centre to provide these opportunities for Central Region. MB Recreation Connections asked this team to host their Therapeutic Rec. Conference last year, its success has led to another invitation to host next year. Proud to work with this dedicated group!
This team is responsible for an area just north of Grand Rapids in the south, Lynn lake to the Northwest, Gilliam to the Northeast and 11 northern Airports bordering the northern parts of the province.
