  • Ka Ni Kanichihk - Heart Medicine Lodge

    Ka Ni Kanichihk’s Heart Medicine Lodge provides culturally-based support and advocacy services for Indigenous women and those who identify as women who have experienced sexual assault and sexual violence. The program was launched in 2016 as part the Winnipeg Safe City, partner in UN Women’s Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces Initiative.

Hummingbird Program

The Hummingbird Program is a community-based sexual assault and intimate partner violence program that is staffed with forensic nurses and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) who are trained to provide holistic care to survivors of sexual assault as well as intimate partner violence (domestic violence). This may include testing for infections, pregnancy, physical assessment, collection of forensic evidence, as well as other forms of in person support. The program also offers Indigenous Cultural Support Workers, advocates and drop-in counselling.

Sexual Assault/Intimate Partner Violence Program (SA/IPV)

The Sexual Assault/Intimate Partner Violence Program (SA/IPV) is a group of specially trained female nurses who provide treatment 24-hours a day, seven days a week to people of any gender, aged 14 and older, who have been sexually assaulted or recently assaulted either by a stranger, friend, acquaintance, or by their intimate partner (sexually and/or physically).
