Sector Committees
In June 2021, the new Apprenticeship and Certification Amendment Act came into force in Manitoba. As part of the Act, the Standing Committees of the Board and the Provincial Advisory Committees were dissolved and replaced by Sector Committees and Industry Working Groups. There are now five Sector Committees, each comprised of a number of specific trades. The five Sector Committees are:
- Construction
- Mechanical/Electrical
- Manufacturing
- Transportation
- Service
The purpose of the Sector Committees is to represent trades in common industries. The Sector Committees are responsible for:
- Reviewing applications for members to participate on Industry Working Groups and providing a recommendation to the Board;
- Reviewing the work of trade-specific Industry Working Groups related to updates to program standards and providing a recommendation to the Board;
- Liaising with members of the sector to understand issues and potential impacts of Board considerations and bring forward concerns to the Board; and
- Providing any additional support that is identified by the Board.
All Sector Committees include representation from employers and employees and a neutral chair. If you would like to serve on a Sector Committee, contact Apprenticeship Manitoba for an application or download the application form below. As members’ terms expire, the Apprenticeship and Certification Board seeks names of qualified candidates to serve on the Sector Committees, and applications will be kept on file until the Board is ready to make new appointments.
