The records of the Archives of Manitoba, including those of the Hudson's Bay Company Archives, come in a variety of media. These records can be copied in a range of formats including photocopies, microprints, microscans, photographic reproductions, onsite filming and digital copies and audio visual reproductions.
Remote clients may wish to contact us to place a copy or reproduction order.
The use of original records requires care and attention. The Archives of Manitoba's Terms Governing Copying, Reproduction and Use
provides important details about how to handle original records. You are required to agree to and sign this document.
Because of the unique nature of the records, all photocopying is done by Archives staff. The waiting period for photocopies depends upon the volume of requests, but deadlines are always respected.
You are permitted to make your own copies from microfilm using the microfilm reader/printers in the research room. You can make copies using a copy card that may be purchased at the reception desk in the Archives Research Room.

once you have determined which records you would like copied and submit the form and records to be copied.
You are permitted to make your own scans from microfilm using the microfilm scanner in the research room. You are required to purchase CDs at the Archives of Manitoba. Personal CDs are not permitted.

The Archives of Manitoba can provide photographic reproductions of most records in its holdings. Photographic reproduction services are contracted out to the private sector. All reproductions are made to order and you pay the contractor directly.

once you have determined which photographs you would like reproduced and submit the form and records to be reproduced.
The Archives of Manitoba will permit the filming or digital copying of all media in its holdings, where no restrictions apply. Prior arrangements should be made to reserve space.

once you have received permission from appropriate staff and determined which records you would like to film or digitally copy.
The Archives of Manitoba will provide reproductions of audio visual records where possible. Reproductions are supplied by Archives staff or by a local production house. You will be required to complete and sign an Archives of Manitoba Release Agreement which outlines the terms governing the use of audio visual reproductions.
