Food Safety and Traceability


The Food Safety and Traceability Program is designed to assist Manitoba agri-food and agri-product sectors in adopting and improving food safety and traceability practices. Financial assistance will be provided to eligible recipients for the development and implementation of food safety programs systems, training, purchasing of specific food safety equipment and validation and verification activities. Traceability systems are critical in the event of an animal health or food safety incidents. These systems are also a requirement for many customers, associations and government regulators. This program will assist businesses to maintain and increase market access and export capacity.

Eligible Expenses

Eligible expenses include developing and implementing assurance systems, foods process and product validation activities, laboratory testing for food safety parameters, lab equipment, training costs, and professional fees for consultants, agencies or firms.

Food Safety Program Development and Implementation

The Food Safety Program Development and Implementation Program is designed to provide funding to agri-production and agri-food processing organizations to develop and implement food safety programs that meet provincial standards and federal Safe Food for Canadians regulations.

Food Safety Equipment - Calibration, Monitoring and Testing

The Food Safety Equipment program is designed to provide funding to agri-production and agri-food processing organizations to purchase food safety related equipment.

Food Safety - Training

The Food Safety - Training Program is designed to provide funding to agri-production and agri-food processing organizations to help with the costs of food safety training programs.

Traceability

The Traceability Program is designed to assist primary producers, food processors and other industry organizations in preparing for and managing animal health or food safety incidents by providing funding for applicants to develop a traceability system.
