Cromwell Road

March 19

Dear Mrs. Stewart,

There are two orphan children – a boy of 12 & a girl of 10 their father was a policeman a very respectful man & lived at my brother’s place our old home in Norfolk. They were a large family & the oldest daughter looked them till last year when she married & these two had to go to the workhouse. They are willing to go to Canada & the relations have given consent. It would be very nice if you had these children from our old home. My brother takes an interest in them & has given me all there particulars about them & would send them but through the “Self Help Emigration Society” as he is one of the committee of this society & is much interested in it. If you approve of these children & will have them would you kindly write to my by return as a party of families are going to Manitoba on the 27th April & they could go under their care. The secretary has made a calculation that about 10 (pounds) would cover all expenses for them. Meanwhile the children will be preparing & we shall wait for first arrangements till we get your answer. Mr. Holland had no children suitable as I asked him first. I hope you heard from him in acknowledgement of your kind gift to him.
