     Project: Rural Municipality of Hanover Background Study, Development Plan and Zoning By-law

• Reeve John Driedger receives the Award from Minister Mihychuk.

Mr. Haggerty completed a comprehensive review of the Rural Municipality of Hanover Basic Planning Statement and drafted the new Hanover Development Plan and Hanover Zoning By-law. In particular, the plan establishes policies that direct livestock to certain areas, establishes buffer areas around residential and settlement centres, and shows preference for the expansion of existing livestock operations versus new operations. With the assistance of PFRA and DataLink Mapping Technologies, a geographic information system (GIS) based survey of local agricultural producers was initiated to study the affected areas and identify manure-spreading areas.

• Hilderman Thomas Frank Cram Landscape Architecture and Planning in collaboration with Wolseley Residents' Association and Wolseley Neighbourhood Advisory Committee
   

     Project: Wolseley Neighbourhood Strategic Plan

 The consultant engaged the community in developing a comprehensive vision for this City of Winnipeg neighbourhood. A strategic plan for the Wolseley neighbourhood was produced that included a community profile, inventory of the community assets, and a communication strategy for the neighbourhood residents. The consultant facilitated the process to establish the community goals and objectives, and prioritize projects for capital funding support.

• The City of Selkirk, The Selkirk Waterfront Development Corporation & Lombard North Group (1984) Ltd.

     Project: The Selkirk Waterfront Downtown Revitalization Strategy

This project represents the community's desire to address four inter-related challenges: downtown revitalization; sustaining the continued operation of Selkirk's wharf and dry dock; strengthening the ties between Selkirk and the region; and, improving the economic health and quality of life in the community. It involved a community-wide participation process, establishment of partnerships, and the creation of objectives and a vision for the area that is linked to an innovative community financing process to help implement the goals.

• Wawanesa - Oakland Community Development Corporation in collaboration with the Village of Wawanesa, Wheat Belt Community Futures, Western Economic Diversification Canada & Manitoba Hydro 

     Project: Wawanesa Geothermal Subdivision

The geothermal subdivision is located near downtown Wawanesa and is comprised of 11 new residential lots. The lots have been pre-serviced with underground geothermal loops to be connected to each home as each lot is developed. Geothermal systems utilize the earth's energy from deep underground to provide heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. The project demonstrates commitment to the principles of sustainable development and the reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
