Community Planning
The Community Planning branch has staff located in 8 regional offices throughout the Province to provide professional and technical services to municipalities and planning districts outside Winnipeg and to northern communities.
The assistance that staff can provide includes:
- Helping municipalities and planning districts apply for planning grants;
- Coordinating the inter-departmental review of development plan by-laws and zoning by-laws and amendments;
- Making recommendations on development applications;
- Review and approval of subdivision applications for most of Manitoba;
- Providing support to planning appeal boards;
- Preparing special studies and background studies;
- Approval of public reserve closures and road closure by-laws;
- Participating on Technical Review Committees for large livestock operations; and
- Gathering, storing, processing and delivering geographic and spatially referenced information, including maps showing existing land parcels (real property) in a municipality, municipal tax roll maps, land use maps and zoning information.
