Project Description
Main objectives:
The objectives of this study are to conduct local-scale kimberlite-indicator-mineral sampling of till, collect paleo-ice flow measurements, and compile, digitize and update existing mapping and till-geochemistry data.
Methodology:
- Road-supported fieldwork along the road between Kinoosao and Leaf Rapids.
- Measurement of ice-flow indicators.
- Collection of till samples for kimberlite-indicator-mineral analyses (KIM), geochemical analyses and lithologic analyses.
- Compilation and digitization of older data in the project area.
Benefits:
A strong public geoscience knowledge base is recognized internationally as a key competitive advantage in profiling a jurisdiction’s geological potential and attracting investment in mineral exploration and development. The products from this project will provide direct input to ongoing mineral exploration initiatives in northwestern Manitoba.
