Update your Manitoba Health Card

New Work Permits and Temporary Permit Extensions

If you have received a new work permit issued by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) OR are awaiting a new permit, you maybe eligible to extend your Manitoba Health coverage.

To extend your Manitoba Health coverage if you have received a new work permit or will be receiving a new work permit, follow these three steps:

Gather the required documents

You will need to provide an additional document along with the completed form.

You must submit a copy of one of the following documents:

New Work Permit (and spouse and dependents’ new Work/Study/Visitor Permit)

Your official work permit issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It contains an issue date and expiry date, these are the dates used to determine your coverage term under the Manitoba Health Insurance Plan. The accompanying spouse and/or minor children also have to provide a new permit (work/study/visitor) to remain eligible for health coverage.

The official confirmation letter from IRCC that states they have received your application to extend your permit(s) online. AND your official receipt of payment to IRCC showing your online payment has been received or the official bank receipt to show the date of payment for your updated permit(s).
OR Acknowledgement of Receipt letter from IRCC that confirms your existing authority to work has been extended to a specific date.

Complete the form

The form can only be filled out by the cardholder.

You will need your Health Card Registration Number and Personal Health Identification Number (PHIN). You can see where these numbers are located on your Manitoba Health Card here.

To submit your request, send the completed form and copies of the required documents to one of the following:
