Timelines for Adding Dependents to Blue Cross Benefit Plans:
For Dental, Vision, Prescription Drugs, Ambulance/Hospital & Health Spending Account:
- If notification is received within 1 year of acquiring dependent - Effective date = Date of event (i.e. birth, marriage, adoption)
- If notification is received after 1 year of acquiring dependent - Effective date = Date of notification
For employee paid Ambulance/Hospital, Extended Health & Travel
- If notification received within 60 days of acquiring dependent - Effective Date = Date of event (i.e. birth, marriage, adoption)
- If notification received after 60 days of acquiring dependent -Effective date = the date of notification
