Program Overview

The Manitoba Back to Work This Summer initiative is a hiring program aiming to ease the road ahead to recovery for Manitoba businesses. The program covers 50 per cent of wage costs for up to 10 weeks, between June 1 and August 30, 2020. It is designed to encourage private sector employers to bring back their employees or take on new hires.




Business eligibility criteria

The program is open to all private sector employers who are operating in Manitoba and meet all of the following criteria:

Financial support

Employers are eligible to receive a reimbursement of 50 per cent of total wages actually paid over a 10-week period, between June 1 and August 30, 2020, to a maximum of $5,000 per worker. Payment will be made as a lump sum upon proof of payment of wages.

Please note:

 

Employers can apply to receive funding for up to five positions.

Please note that under this program, employers are eligible to receive reimbursement only for wages paid and employees hired on or after the application date.

Employers may receive funding for different positions under both the Manitoba Summer Student Recovery Jobs Program and the Manitoba Back to Work This Summer Program, to a combined maximum of five positions in total. Employers who have already hired under the Manitoba Summer Student Recovery Jobs Program for fewer than five positions, may apply for new positions under the Manitoba Back to Work This Summer Program for the remaining balance.

How to submit your application

The application process is now closed. You can still apply to receive support for up to 20 new hires under the Back to Work Manitoba program

When submitting your application, you will be required to verify that the information you have provided in the application is correct and complete.

You should receive confirmation that your application has been processed within 10 business days.

Please note:

 

Employers will then be required to provide proof of payment of wages by October 1, 2020. If all employer obligations are met, payment will be made within 14 days of providing proof of payment of wages.
