GETTING THE JOB DONE FOR COMMUNITIES
Budget 2019 keeps our promises by fixing the finances, repairing services and rebuilding our economy.
We're investing in results for Manitobans and continuing on the road to recovery by supporting Manitoba communities including:
- investing $3 million in a wastewater lagoon in Thicket Portage and a wastewater treatment plant at Gods Lake Narrows;
- investing an additional $2 million in the Manitoba Water Services Board to provide municipalities outside of Winnipeg additional support to address critical water and sewer infrastructure needs;
- providing enhanced basket funding for municipalities to support ongoing critical infrastructure needs, such as road renewal;
- remaining committed to completing the $540-million channels project, as soon as federal approvals can be obtained;
- reducing red tape by streamlining community group grant funding processes; and
- adding resources in Budget 2019 to clear the backlog of municipal utility rate applications at the Public Utilities Board and better assist municipalities.
