Working in Manitoba - Canadian Free Trade Agreement
The Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) is an interprovincial trade agreement that allows for the free movement of persons, goods, services and investments within Canada. As part of this agreement, the CFTA allows any worker who is certified for a trade or occupation by a regulatory authority (i.e. government) in one province or territory to be recognized as qualified for that same trade or occupation by all other provinces and territories.
Under the CFTA, we will assess the credentials of workers who want to work in the Manitoba compulsory trades only. People who work in these trades, and who have a Red Seal endorsement on a valid provincial Certificate of Qualification or have another equivalent credential, can apply using the Certificate of Recognition Application Form to have their credentials recognized so they can work in Manitoba.
Complete and submit the Certificate of Recognition Application. A copy of the credentials must be included in the application. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant. Subject to approval, we will provide a letter of recognition to you.
